After my contract in Algeria ended I had 2 months of vacation for personal reasons but also for recharging the batteries. Today was my first day at the office back home and it was not a very enjoyable day. People thinks that if you go on contract you had your time, you made a lot of money and when you come back you should be happy that they still allow you to work for your home company. And you feel a lot of frustration because your kids lost the pace with the school and friends, your wife lost her job and is having hard times to get a new one in these difficult times.
I don’t want to complain, I knew from the very begining that this will happen, in the brochure I got they were explaining all the issues you will face when you will return back home, but I said this will not happen to me. Sometimes the energy, time and passion you put on something cannot be replaced by any money or advantages you get.
I’m sure it will be better, yes people tend to be like that I agree. I face more or less the same when I go home (or when I tried to settle back) people look at me as I shouldnt complain about anything as I already made money abroad etc…
as for the kids dont worry as they can adapt faster than us adults, it will all be okay for them after one or two weeks in school.
by the way Algeria lost 3-0 to Malawi yesterday =)
